A truly captivating read. The author shares with us his extraordinary adventure of a 3 month 'traverse' of the Antarctic for scientific purposes with a Russian team in the 1980s. Not only are the adventures of the traverse exciting, at times nerve wracking, it is amazing to know of the Antarctic Treaty which facilitated this opportunity for a young Australian engineer to work closely with a group of 8 Russians over the three month period.

What a fascinating interview.

For a science nerd like myself it was a truly fascinating read. But even as an account of the endurance or otherwise of men and machinery in such extreme conditions, it's a cracker.
